BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR PORTIONS OF THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER WATER SYSTEM:
Affected Areas: Coffee Road, Long Creek Highway (north of Coffee Road), Welcome Church Road, Unity Church Road, Burton Memorial Drive, and Surrounding Areas
Date: September 27, 2024
The City of Westminster Public Works Department advises all water customers in the following areas—Coffee Road, Long Creek Highway (north of Coffee Road), Welcome Church Road, Unity Church Road, Burton Memorial Drive, and surrounding areas—to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute before using it for drinking or cooking.
Reason for Advisory:
The water service disruption is due to widespread power outages in Oconee County, which have rendered pumps inactive. As a result, water supply and pressure to higher elevations near the upper portion of Long Creek Highway have been affected.
Once water service is restored, the City will begin testing bacteriological samples to ensure the water is safe. This process typically takes about 48 hours. Residents should continue boiling water until further notice. This Boil Water Advisory may last for an extended period.
