Proactive in Prevention

In its early years, the City of Westminster Fire Department was fully volunteers before partnering with Oconee County Rural Fire. The first paid personnel in the city was hired in the 1970s. Now, the department has 8 full-time staff and 10 active volunteers working together to respond to over 800 calls a year. Our department includes:

  • 4 Full Equipped Engines
  • A Service Truck
  • A Command Unit
  • A Brush Unit

Our team of firefighters work hard to stay committed to preventing fire, fire related deaths and injury. The department is an active part of fire prevention in schools, daycares, churches, and residences within the area. This team of dedicated personnel continue to stay proactive and implement fire safety across the city.

Fire Marshal & Inspections

Reducing Risk and Inspiring Safety

The Fire Marshal works to reduce the risk of fire and injuries to the public. Our Fire Marshal is certified through the South Carolina Fire Marshal’s office as Resident State Fire Marshal. He performs all routine inspections, re-inspections, and follows up with complaints.

  • Lead programs and education for the community
  • Inspect all new construction
  • Inspect all commercial facilities
  • Inspect the unincorporated fire district protected by our fire department
