Our Police Department is committed to the community and all who visit, shop, and conduct business in the City of Westminster. The men and women of the Westminster Police Department proudly serve around 2,300 Westminster residents. The Police Department consists of 9 sworn certified police officers.
Police Canine
The Westminster Police Department is located at 106 E. Windsor Street and is open to the public Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM to provide copies of accident reports, incident reports, and local background checks.
Background checks offered by this department include conviction data only for this Agency. If you need a SLED check, you must contact the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division at catch.sled.sc.gov.
Incident reports are available to the victim and other parties listed in the report free of charge. Individuals not listed in reports must complete a FOIA request.
Oconee County Sheriff’s Office
With the fundamental rights of the Constitution of South Carolina in mind, this Victim’s Advocate Program provides services to victims and witnesses of crime. The City of Westminster contracts with the Oconee County Sheriff Office to provide these services.
This program is accessible to the general public through a police officer referral or a self-referral by a person who has been a victim of a crime occurring in the city limits of Westminster. The Victim’s Advocate works one-on-one with the crime victim and/or family members through each step of the criminal justice system to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, information, and resource referrals.

The Westminster Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest possible quality of law enforcement service to the public. The department courteously accepts and impartially investigates all complaints regarding the actions and performance of our personnel. We encourage citizens to communicate any concerns or grievances with the department by filing a complaint.
